ESA accounting policies now online
A draft version of the ESA accounting policies for the financial year 2009/10 has been agreed with the Department of Education, and are now available to view online.
The policies outline the principles and rules which will be applied in preparing the annual accounts for 2009/10.
As a result of the requirements of merger accounting all the transactions and balances, as and from 1 April 2009, of those organisations which are being brought together to form ESA, on 1 January 2010, will be presented in the financial statements for the whole of the 2009/10 financial year.
The Accounts covering the twelve months to 31 March 2010 will be prepared by ESA. Consequently from 1 April 2009 the existing organisations have been operating the ESA accounting policies. As a result the accounting treatment afforded to all financial transactions across all organisations, in the lead up to and post the creation of ESA, on 1 January 2010, is now consistent.
