ESA Transition Board holds first meeting

A top priority for the coming year is to take forward convergence activities and ensure a successful transition to the new Education and Skills Authority (ESA) while continuing to deliver key services effectively.

To meet this challenge the Department of Education has formed an ESA Transition Board, chaired by ESA Chief Executive (Designate), Gavin Boyd. The group will provide leadership and direction on convergence issues and service delivery in the run up to the establishment of ESA on 1 April 2009.

The ESA Transition Board held its first meeting on 14 April 2008. Joining Gavin were Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Department of Education, John McGrath, the Chief Executives of the 5 Education and Library Boards and the Chief Executive of CCMS.

Matters discussed at the first meeting included feedback from the “Preparing together for ESA” launch event on 4 April 2008, the change management programme including the upcoming workshops with staff across the education sector, capacity building, the Outline Business Case and 2nd tier structures.

The next meeting of the ESA Transition Board is planned for Monday 19 May at ESAIT Offices, Forestview.
