January Briefing for ELB Chief Executives

Gavin Boyd and Will Haire joined the ELB Chief Executives at their monthly meeting on 14 January 2008 to provide an update on the RPA in education.

Among the topics covered were the change management strategy, the setting up of two new working groups, forthcoming secondments to the ESA Implementation Team, and the progress of RPA legislation.

On Change Management, Gavin Boyd informed the group that following on from the presentations prior to Christmas, a series of workshops were now being planned to take forward the development of services in ESA. More detail will be provided in the near future.

Will Haire also stated that he will be writing to the Chief Executives on how they and their organisations can contribute to the recently announced working groups in Education Quality and Children’s Services.

Gavin also told the CEOs that Bill Reid has been seconded from the Strategic Investment Board to provide advice to ESAIT on future management and procurement of the school estate. Mr Boyd added that in the coming weeks ESAIT would be advertising for nine more secondment posts.

Mr Haire informed the Chief Executives that the ESA legislation was on track and that the Minister has indicated she will bring the legislation to the Assembly at the earliest opportunity.
