Central governance role stressed at ICT Programme Board
The latest meeting of the ESA ICT Programme Board took place on 8 April.
The Board has been set up to oversee the funding and development of all major current and planned ICT projects across the education sector and ensure they meet the requirements of the new organisation.
A key message emerging from the meeting was to remind affected organisations that all ICT projects and procurements must be submitted via the agreed governance arrangements to the ESA ICT Programme Board for approval. In particular, proposals should be submitted early in the planning process and not just at the point of procurement or commitment. Early notification is essential to identify any possible duplication in the service and to support informed decision making by the Programme Board.
As well as assessing progress on a range of ICT Projects across the sector, a new Department of Education representative, Deputy Permanent Secretary, John McGrath, was welcomed on to the Programme Board
The full membership of the ICT Programme Board is now as follows:
- Gavin Boyd, Chief Executive (Designate) ESA - (Chairperson)
- John McGrath, (DE)
- Jimmy Stewart, WELB/C2k
- Pat O’Connor, SEELB
- Richard Hanna, CCEA.
