Convergence
In December 2009, Education Minister, Caitríona Ruane confirmed that the planned date for the establishment of ESA on 1 January 2010 was no longer achievable.
In her statement to the Assembly she outlined her continuing commitment to achieving the objectives of education reform through streamlining administration, removing variability in service delivery and improving educational outcomes.
In advance of ESA this will be taken forward through more consistent and focused delivery of key policies by means of convergence.
PMB
The Convergence Programme Management Board (PMB) has been created to oversee the convergence process and to ensure there is a strong co-ordinated approach to the work. Its purpose is to help provide direction to organisations and monitor progress on delivery of Convergence across the various strands.
PMB is chaired by the ESA Chair designate and includes the Chairpersons of WELB, SELB, BELB, NEELB and an SEELB Commissioner.
